FICHTNER ENGINEERING S.A is a private joint-stock company, member of the  FICHTNER group of companies. The main shareholder is FICHTNER Co. (60% of shares), a well-known world-wide company.

FICHTNER ENGINEERING has started the activity in 1998 and it is a member of the FICHTNER Group of Companies since 2000. The specialists who compose the company have an experience in transmission and distribution field sized between 15 up to 40 years.

The company activity covers studies, technical specifications, feasibility studies, full transmission line design - including line routing, tower plotting, tower statical calculation and work shop drawings, testing programs for T/L equipment, technical assistance during the erection work and consulting.

In ROMANIA, our specialists have performed engineering services for more than 15,000 Km of 110 up to 750 kV transmission lines, standards, studies and software, as well as, special projects like the over crossing of Danube river (120 m tower height, 1200 m crossing spans), optical fibre (OPGW, ADSS, OPUG) on transmission grids.

Abroad, FICHTNER ENGINEERING staff, has been involved in engineering services for more than 6,000 Km of 66-500 kV transmission line projects in Peru, Chile, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Cyprus, UAE, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand. In consulting services, our staff has co-operated with well-known companies as FICHTNER CONSULTING ENGINEERS-Germany, PB-MERZ Mc.LELLAND & KEMA-U.S.A, companies from Indonesia, Malaysia, UAE, Argentina, Chile, China, Burundi, Rwanda, Eritrea , Germany, Laos, Congo RD and Romania, and it is general consultant in Romania for TRANSELECTRICA (Romanian Electrical Authorithy) local financed projects.

In 2003, FICHTNER ENGINEERING acquired 37% from the shares of MPS ELECTRIC-DESIGN Ltd, a company specialised in consulting and engineering services for 33 kV up to 500 kV substations. With a few very experimented engineers, our companies have developed joint substation projects, Fichtner Engineering covering the structural and civil engineering work and MPS Electric-Design doing the electrical work.

The scientifical activity of the company consists in:

• Co-operation with the "POLITEHNICA" and "CIVIL ENGINEERING" universities in Bucharest

• Activities in the ICE comities for Romania

• Participation in the CIGRE, with 3 specialists member of the CIGRE work group WG 22-08 Structures and 1 specialist in the work group WG 22-15  Environment

• International conferences and symposiums.

FICHTNER ENGINEERING activity corresponds to the specialised departments and personnel structure as follows:

• Electrical department, developing studies, technical specifications, feasibility studies, transmission line projects (line routing, tower spotting, insulation, earthing, conductor mechanical calculation, material lists, equipment selection, optical fibre conductors)

• Civil department, developing tower statical calculation and work shop drawings, foundation selection and design.

FICHTNER ENGINEERING activity is fully computerised, using modern and performant software as: 

• PLC-CADD (U.S.A)-for the transmission line design

• TOWER (U.S.A)-for tower statical calculation

• SPOLE (U.S.A)-for the design of pole tower

• SAG-SEG (U.S.A)-for the conductor mechanical calculation

• OFFICE 2000, MS Project 2000 and AUTOCAD 2000.

 The design work is performed according to all international standards required by our Clients:

• ASTM, NF, DIN, IEC, ISO-for towers

• ASTM, DIN, BS, ISO-for antennas

• IEC, NESC, BS, PE 104,109,105-for transmission lines

• IEC, ASTM-for tower tests.

FICHTNER ENGINEERING personnel consists of 24 specialists:

• 1 Over 40 years experienced engineer

• 8 Over 30 years experienced engineers

• 5 Over 15 years experienced engineers

• 4 Over  5 years experienced  engineers

• 1 Over 25 years experienced B.A. engineer

• 5 Over 25 years experienced technicians

 Two of the engineers are PhD , 3 engineers are PhD candidates, 4 specialists are CIGRE members, one specialist is an expert of The German Development Bank (KfW), and 10 specialists have worked as consulting engineers in international projects.
